GPU — where your frame rate lives
- GTX 970 / R9 390 (minimum): both are 4 GB cards from 2014-15. Expect a 1080p experience at medium-ish settings. This tier is a playable anchor, not a pretty one.
- RTX 2060 / RX 5700 (recommended): the 2060 has 6 GB VRAM and ray-tracing hardware; the 5700 is its AMD contemporary. This tier is the 1080p high-settings anchor and should hold 60 FPS in normal runs for a game with these requirements.

Storage & DirectX — the easy checks
- 10 GB install — small. An SSD isn't listed as required, but if you have one, install there: procedurally generated levels stream as you descend, and a slow HDD is a poor place for anything that generates content on the fly.
- DirectX 11 — the game does not list DX12 or Vulkan. Windows 11 is not separately listed, but DX11 titles run on Windows 11 without issue in practice (worth knowing if you've already upgraded).
Network — don't skip the broadband note

- Shadows and post-processing first. Dark, atmosphere-heavy games hide the cost in volumetric lighting, shadows, and bloom. Dropping shadow quality one notch and disabling motion blur buys more frames than almost anything else — and in a game this dark, you'll barely notice.
